We are a scientifically diverse department united by our focus on describing the molecular mechanisms that drive fundamental biological processes. Our research blends physics, chemistry, mathematics and biochemistry to solve problems and catalyze innovation. Our emphasis on interdisciplinary science enables us to tackle challenging questions at the edge of knowledge. The Biochemistry & Molecular Biotechnology Department at UMass Chan Medical School is an incubator for scientists who seek to creatively and collaboratively push the envelope at the interface of the physical and life sciences.
