The Our Danny Cancer Fund, named after Dottie and Dan Manning’s son, was established from a dream. Danny dreamed of the day when he would be cancer-free and able to resume his life as a 21-year-old. Education, marriage and children were all part of Danny’s dream that was left unfulfilled when he died in 1994. Just as the Mannings were recovering from their loss, Dottie’s husband was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and died in 1997. Ironically, Danny and Dan Sr. might have survived their cancers if they were being treated today…because of cancer research!
The Our Danny Cancer Fund is rapidly advancing the translational cancer research underway at the UMass Cancer Center. The Cancer Center’s focus is to better understand the biology of cancer in combination with the development of innovative and effective measures for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disease, particularly in the following areas:
Please continue to support the Our Danny Cancer Fund to accelerate cancer research. Let’s help make Danny’s dream and our dream – a cure for cancer – a reality.
