Elvisa Loshe MD
Assistant Professor
Brief Bio
Dr. Loshe is a trusted ophthalmologist whose career blends clinical and surgical excellence, academic leadership, and a deeply personal commitment to patient‑centered care. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto, earning a Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences and Italian Literature with Distinction. Before entering medicine, she built a successful early career in marketing and banking, experiences that strengthened her communication skills and her ability to connect with patients from all backgrounds.
Her long‑standing passion for medicine led her to pursue her Medical Degree at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia, where she was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society, an honor reserved for physicians who exemplify exceptional academic achievement and professionalism. Dr. Loshe completed her Ophthalmology residency at the Kresge Eye Institute at Wayne State University. With family ties to Massachusetts, she moved to Worcester to practice.
Dr. Loshe specializes in routine and complex cataract surgery as well as Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS). She is highly skilled in the use of advanced‑technology intraocular lenses, helping patients reduce their dependence on bifocals or reading glasses after cataract surgery. Her surgical precision, passion for patient education, and evidence‑based approach have earned her a reputation for delivering outstanding outcomes.
Dr. Loshe is a dedicated faculty member at the UMass Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences and plays an active role in the surgical and clinical training of future ophthalmologists. She is committed to instilling in each trainee the same values that guide her own practice, caring for every patient with the attention, compassion, and respect she would give to a member of her own family.
“My favorite part of being an Ophthalmologist is having a direct impact on my patients’ lives. Pulling back the surgical drape after removing a cataract in someone who has lost almost all vision and hearing “Doc, I can see” with a big smile on their face is always fulfilling. My surgical and clinical skills make a direct impact in people’s quality of life.”
In her free time, Dr. Loshe enjoys making memories with her children while traveling, gardening, or swimming. She is hoping to add some winter sports to her activities in the future.
