What are your clinical and research interests?
I am just a few months from completion of my cardiology fellowship and will be working as a general cardiologist. The areas of general cardiology that I enjoy the most are echocardiography, particularly structural echocardiography, valvular heart disease, and cardiomyopathy. My research interests are primarily focused on echocardiographic remodeling after transcatheter valvular interventions such as mitral valve TEER and TAVR. I have also been doing some work on cardiac remodeling after weight loss in our obese population.
Why did you choose UMass Chan for your fellowship?
I chose UMass Chan because of its well-rounded clinical experience with exposure to multiple subspecialties in cardiology. Also, the high volume and diverse complexity of the patient population offer a solid foundation for acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary for competency after training.
Where is your favorite place to travel for vacation and why?
While I do love new experiences, I would have to say Jamaica. It’s always special when I visit because it gives me a chance to spend time with my family and closest friends. On top of that, I get to enjoy all my favorite foods, stunning beaches, and the consistently warm weather! It’s the perfect combination for relaxation and quality time with loved ones.
What was your favorite book as a child?
As a child, I loved reading Animorphs because it offered an exciting blend of adventure, fantasy, and relatable characters. The storylines were always filled with action and suspense, which kept me on my toes.
Favorite holiday?
My favorite holiday is Christmas because it’s always a happy season that brings families and friends together. I love the songs, decorations, food, and all the festivities.
Favorite guilty pleasure snack?
Nachos.
