Imaging Facilities and Locations

The primary location for the Neuroradiology fellowship is the UMass Memorial Medical Center at the University campus. The fellows are at the University Campus for almost all the fellowship. They read some of the neuroimaging studies performed at other hospitals of UMass Memorial Health Care, from the University Campus.

  • UMass Memorial Medical Center University Campus is located on Lake Avenue North and is home to the UMass Chan Medical School and its research facilities. UMass Memorial’s trauma center stroke services are located on this campus and provide a large volume of neuroimaging cases. The University Campus is the primary site of all neurointerventional radiology services.
  • UMass Memorial Medical Center Memorial Campus is located a mile from the main University Campus. It houses neonatology services.
  • UMass Memorial Medical Imaging Center (UMMIC) is an outpatient MRI center located on Shrewsbury Street just minutes from University and Memorial Campuses. It houses one 3T and two 1.5T MR systems. PET-CT is also performed at this site and interpreted by the Nuclear Medicine Division.
  • The community sites include:

    • UMass Memorial Health – HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital
    • UMass Memorial Health – Marlborough Hospital

  • 9 CT scanners including one 128 slice Siemens dual energy CT.
  • 9 clinical MR systems
  • 1 PET/CT
  • 2 state-of-the art neurointerventional Philips biplane machines

Annual imaging volume

  • Nearly 1 million radiology imaging studies a year.
  • 80,000 diagnostic neuroimaging studies.
  • Each fellow performs approximately 30-50 angiograms and 50-60 lumbar puncture/myelograms.
