The Data Management and Sharing cycle

BioImage Data Management and Sharing (DMS) is a systematic way to ensure that image data is well-organized, accessible, and usable for both current and future purposes.

BioImage DMS helps researchers keep track of their data, making it easier to analyze, share with others, and ensure accuracy and reliability.

It also involves planning how data will be collected, stored, and protected, often using tools like databases or cloud storage.

Proper BioImage DMS ensures data is not lost, corrupted, or misused. It also supports transparency and reproducibility in research, which are essential for building trust in scientific findings.

Additionally, the NIH, the NSF, and many scientific journals and institutions now require researchers to have a Data Management and Sharing plan outlining how research data will be handled, ensuring that it remains valuable and secure for years to come.
