Addiction Psychiatry →
The mission of the Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship is to educate and train psychiatrists to become experts in the biological basis of addiction, to prepare them to provide care to patients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, and to empower them to be advocates for their patients in health care settings as well as in the community.

Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine →
The mission of the Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine Fellowship is to educate and train the next generation of intensivists with a focus on a multidisciplinary approach to patient care in the perioperative setting. Fellows will gain the tools to become leaders in the field with the ability to practice in a variety of ICU settings in either an academic or private practice environment.

Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology →
The mission of the Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship Program is to train fellows to become competent and confident clinical cardiac electrophysiologists. The program provides exposure to all aspects of clinical electrophysiology including the evaluation and diagnosis of cardiac dysrhythmias, treatment and post-op care. Fellows will combine this experience with active didactic education and attendance and participation in local, regional and national education forums. Our program also offers fellows with the opportunity to explore clinical research and pursue leadership roles within the diverse and high-volume cardiac population of Central Massachusetts.

Clinical Informatics →
The mission of the Clinical Informatics Fellowship Program at UMass Chan Medical School is to train the next generation of clinical informaticists to apply information technology toward advancing and transforming patient care, enhancing patient and staff safety, and improving clinical outcomes. We will accomplish this mission by recruiting trainees with backgrounds in internal medicine and other clinical specialties who will be given rigorous training in clinical informatics, quality improvement and research methods. Educational programs and project work will align with the missions of UMass Chan and UMass Memorial Health, both of which are deeply committed to population health and to improving the health of the people in Central Massachusetts.

Clinical Neurophysiology →
The mission of the Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship is to educate and train well rounded, competent neurologists with expertise in electromyography, nerve conduction studies, electroencephalography and additional training in the broad area of clinical neurophysiology. Fellows will train in a supportive, scholarly and collegial environment that will prepare them for careers in general or academic neurology, while providing outstanding care particularly to patients with neuromuscular or epilepsy conditions.

Colon and Rectal Surgery →
The mission of the Colon and Rectal Surgery Fellowship is to provide exceptional, state-of-the-art care for our patients while educating medical students, residents and practicing physicians. We aim to advance the field of colorectal surgery through research and investigation and by serving as an educational resource and advocate for the Central Massachusetts community.

Cytopathology →
The mission of the Cytopathology Fellowship Program is to prepare fellows to excel in the field of diagnostic cytopathology. Depending on the fellow, training can be tailored toward academics or technology development. The cell biology basis of cytology is emphasized, and our institution is at the forefront of advanced live cell imaging techniques. Fellows assist with stat diagnosis of microbiopsies for a wide variety of specimen sources. The program is unique in that it offers strong training in cytopathologist-performed ultrasound-guided FNA, and technology development relating to biopsy devices and specimen processing.

Dermatopathology →
The mission of the Dermatopathology Fellowship Program is to train fellows to become competent, independent practicing dermatopathologists. The program provides qualified education in all aspects of dermatopathology, including histopathology, clinical dermatology, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, molecular pathology and microbiology. Participation by fellows in teaching and research activity is also required to provide experience and develop expertise.

The mission of the Emergency Medicine (EMS) Fellowship is to educate and train future EMS medical directors and leaders in prehospital medicine through didactics, administrative oversight of EMS and the clinical experiences of caring for a diverse population of patients in Central Massachusetts.

Forensic Psychiatry →
The mission of the Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship Program is to educate and train psychiatrists for proficiency in forensic evaluation and risk assessment. Fellows provide clinical care for those involved in the criminal justice system, and are also actively engaged in teaching, scholarly activities, administration and patient advocacy activities.

Gastroenterology →
The mission of the Gastroenterology Fellowship Program is to train and prepare fellows to practice independently as consultants in the field of gastroenterology and hepatology. This entails possessing a broad range of, skills including the ability to generate a relevant differential diagnosis. Performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and developing the skills to perform these procedures. Fellows participate in lectures and research projects, have the opportunity to teach other trainees and provide various clinical services at a high-volume academic medical center as well as in a community-based hospital settings.

The mission of the Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program is to provide a comprehensive educational experience in the discipline of geriatric medicine, in a supportive environment of scholarship, integrity and critical thinking.

Hematology/Oncology →
The mission of the Hematology/Oncology Fellowship is to educate and train learners in a collegial and supportive environment, to be clinically competent in the care of patients with benign and malignant hematologic disorders and neoplastic disorders; be competent in the procedural and technical skills required in the evaluation and care of these patients; and to acquire skills necessary for the critical evaluation and interpretation of basic and/or clinical research in the field.

Hematopathology →
The mission of the Hematopathology Fellowship Program is to prepare fellows to excel in the field of hematopathology and to successfully pursue academic or community hospital careers. Fellows see a wealth of cases within the largest health care system in central Massachusetts, which is the home of the only stem cell transplant program in the region. Fellows also gain extensive experience in flow cytometry, cytogenetics, molecular diagnostics and special hematology and are expected to actively participate in teaching and research.

The Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship is dedicated to training generations of palliative care experts to provide compassionate, evidence-based, interdisciplinary care for seriously ill patients and their families to improve quality of life and reduce physical, emotional and spiritual suffering. We mentor fellows as servant-leaders committed to teaching, program growth, quality improvement and research to grow the field of palliative care locally, regionally and nationally.

The University of Massachusetts Primary Care Sports and Exercise Medicine Fellowship mission is to provide a well-rounded ACGME accredited experience that will train primary care physicians in the best principles, practice, clinical research, and teaching of primary care sports medicine. The program strives to graduate physicians who will become leaders in advancing the specialty of sports medicine with their patients, community, regionally, and when possible nationally.
