Capstone Project

The Clinical Informatics Fellowship at UMass Chan requires fellows to complete a Capstone Project demonstrating applied informatics skills to address healthcare challenges. This project spans from late year 1 through year 2 and involves problem identification, design, implementation, and evaluation of informatics solutions within clinical settings.

  • Fellows collaborate with mentors and interdisciplinary teams to develop interventions, often built in Epic, aiming to improve patient care, workflow, or data management.
  • The project includes a structured timeline with milestones such as problem definition, baseline data collection, implementation, evaluation, and a final report due by June of the 2nd year of fellowship.
  • The final report must comprehensively document the project, including objectives, methods, results, and lessons learned, and is presented to faculty and peers.
