David Cooper grew up in Framingham, Massachusetts and received his BS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2020. In his senior year, he worked on a thesis project examining sleep-dependent memory consolidation in the Somneuro lab. Following graduation, David joined the Khvorova Lab as a research technician in October of 2020, and he matriculated into the UMass Chan Morningside Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences PhD program in the summer of 2022. David works on a variety of projects involving chemical optimization and the development of novel siRNA scaffolds. His primary project focuses on the development of a dual-targeting siRNA for the treatment of Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva. Outside of the lab, David enjoys disc golf, pickleball, reading, and watching movies!
