Dimas Echeverria

Dimas Echeverria is the Director of the Nucleic Acid Chemistry Center (NACC) at the RNA Therapeutics Institute at UMass Chan Medical School. Originally from Cali, Colombia, he earned his degree in Chemistry from Universidad del Valle. He began his research career at Colorado State University’s Cancer Prevention Laboratory, where he developed analytical methods to evaluate bioactive compounds in studies focused on breast cancer prevention through nutrition. Dimas later joined UMass Chan to help establish a nucleic acid chemistry infrastructure, transitioning from analytical chemistry to nucleic acid chemistry engineering. Under his leadership, the NACC provides academic collaborators with advanced synthetic capabilities and expert guidance to accelerate RNA-based therapeutic research. Outside of the lab, Dimas enjoys sports, food, traveling, and relaxing.
