Welcome to the Department of Neurology at UMass Chan Medical School. We are proud to be making meaningful innovations in this exciting discipline. Our team of educators, scientists and clinicians use the most up-to-date tools and knowledge in the field to advance understanding of the brain and nervous system and the disorders that can afflict them. 

UMass Chan neurology research is making exciting progress in areas such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, brain development, cognitive neuroscience and dementia, gene therapy in neurological disorders, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders, shared decision making and neuro-prognostication, and traumatic brain injury.  

Our residency program is committed to developing the next generation of neurologists as expert clinicians, inquisitive neuroscientists, and dedicated educators. Subspecialty fellowships in movement disorders, neuroimmunology, neurophysiology, vascular neurology, and neurocritical care address some of the most pressing scientific and clinical challenges in the discipline.
